This carpet cleaning job was for a regular client who purchased this building for rental property and wanted to try and salvage the carpeting before replacing. This would probably be considered a restoration cleaning due to degree of soiling but I think that we help save him a lot of money.

The carpet had general soiling from traffic with drink spills, coffee stains and wax spots scattered throughout. We chose to use the Very Low Moisture (or VLM for short) cleaning process on this job.
What is VLM?  This cleaning process uses very small amounts of water as compared to steam cleaning and dries in about 1 hour. This means that the carpeting can be put back into use faster. There is no intrusion or trip hazards with hoses everywhere and doors can be locked for security purposes. The cleaning solution is safe for people, pets, plants and the environment. This is a tile and grout cleaning job we did for a customer in Fairhope. They bought the house for the purpose of turning it into a rental property. The previous owners lived there for over 17 years and I don't think the tile and grout had ever been cleaned. 

Some of the equipment we used on this tile and grout cleaning job ranging from hand held grout scrubbing tools to mechanical scrubbing machines and high pressure cleaning equipment designed specifically for tile and grout cleaning.

The first thing that we do is to use a backpack vacuum to remove all loose soil, dust and foreign debris.
Next a hot, high alkaline solution is applied to surfaces to be cleaned and allowed to dwell. After dwell time, we use a mechanical scrubber to clean the surface of the tile and the grout with a splash guard to keep cleaning solution off of the walls and baseboards.

On this particular job a young man purchasing his first home called us to clean the carpets before he moved in. Upon arrival I went in to survey the areas to be cleaned and talked with the customer about any concerned areas that he might have. He showed me around and expressed that the carpets were probably too far gone, but would feel better having them cleaned until he could afford to put in wood floors. Here are some before and after pictures of the worst rooms in the house.

Our process begins with a thorough vacuuming to remove all dry particle soils. This is one of the most important and overlooked steps in the carpet cleaning process. Most cleaning companies ask you to do this before they arrive. We take pride in our vacuuming and wouldn't ever ask you to do what you are paying us to do for you....CLEAN...That is what you called us for, isn't it ?

After a thorough vacuuming we then apply a safe cleaning solution to emulsify and suspend oily soils and allow proper dwell time for the chemicals to work. We pre-spray all of the carpeting to be cleaned and don't charge extra....AGAIN....it's part of the cleaning process. We do charge extra for specialized spotting on things such as Red Stain Removal, excessive ink stains and excessive pet stains but that choice is left up to you.
After allowing proper dwell time, we then use a counter rotating brush to evenly distribute and agitate the cleaning solution into all sides of the fibers ensuring a thorough cleaning job. We don't charge extra to scrub your carpeting....AGAIN...it's part of the cleaning process.

Now all of the hard prep work is over and it's down to flushing all of the suspended matter from the carpeting with our powerful truck-mounted steam cleaning system.

On this particular job in Fairhope, AL., while vacuuming the carpets, before cleaning, I kept noticing a lot of dark stains. Asked the homeowner if she knew what they were and she replied, My dog chewed up several ink pens. These stains were throughout the bedroom, living room and even on the sofa.

The difference between a spot and a stain. A spot add substance to carpet, such as a food spill or mud tracked in. A stain is something that either adds color or hue to the fiber or takes the color away. Kool-Aid would be considered a color added stain and bleach spilled on carpeting would remove the therefore it's called a bleach stain.

In the end I was able to remove all of the ink stains, even the one on the sofa.

Here are some pictures (in no particular order) before, during and after of a tile and grout cleaning job in Spanish Fort, Alabama. This particular job wasn't that soiled but the new owners wanted everything cleaned before moving in. Due to sheer size of this home and cleaning on multiple floors this job took a little longer than most.

When cleaning tile & grout we first vacuum the floor with a backpack vacuum with a soft tool attached to make sure not to scratch the tile. Next a hot solution is then applied to surface making sure to penetrate all nooks and crannies and allowed to dwell. Then we use a weighted scrubber with a tile and grout brush attachment to scrub and loosen soils. Along edges and in tight spots we will hand scrub those areas. After a good scrubbing the tile is then ready to be flushed with high pressure to remove all of the suspended soils with our high powered truck-mount and specialized attachments.

  Roughly about 79% of soils found in carpeting are insoluble (meaning it won't be dissolved with chemicals) and should be removed by vacuuming .  Dry particle does the most damage to fibers by nicking and abrading them which causes light to reflect off of them in different directions and makes your traffic areas appear dull and dingy .  Example: take a small clear piece of plastic and rub it back and forth on concrete, no matter how much you clean it, it will always appear dull and dingy.
 Routine vacuuming of your carpeting several times a week is the best preventative maintenance to help your carpets stay cleaner and maintain its appearance over its lifetime. Concentrate on entryways  into a room especially off of a hard surfaced floor or in front of an outside door that immediately places foot traffic onto carpeting. Vacuum these areas with slow passes in both directions up to about 6 feet.
