Vacuum Before Cleaning
Dry soil removal is the most important, yet often skipped step in the cleaning process. The overall outcome and appearance of the job can lead back to this one factor. Too many cleaning companies are focused on how fast they can get in and out of place and on to the next job. Lets face it, vacuuming consumes too much of that time.
The Cleaning Pie
These are the four principal steps that should be used in a quality carpet cleaning job. With any step left off then the other steps have to be increased to make up for the loss of the pie. Let's say agitation is skipped, well more than likely it is compensated by using more chemical ( usually a very high ph ) which can be hard to rinse from the fiber and can lead to rapid resoiling.
If you are paying for a quality carpet cleaning job or expecting one, be sure that all of the above steps are used in the cleaning process. Don't fall prey to the wet and jet standard that so many companies practice now. What is wet and jet? That's where the agitation and time are left out of the cleaning pie. To compensate a high ph chemical is applied (sometimes this is skipped or you are charged extra for it) immediately followed by hot water extraction. If this is all that you require, that's fine. I'll even offer you this service if it's what you want, but it's not really cleaning, just the appearance of it for a short time. Read the fine print in ads, ask questions and don't be duped by these practices that plague our industry. Understand what you paying for. Some ads may state that you are responsible for vacuuming, but all of the other steps should be incorporated into the cleaning process for a thorough and quality cleaning job.

Absolutely Kleen cleaned the upstairs of a customers home to help her get ready to sell. She had a guy coming out to replace her carpeting in the master bedroom until we cleaned an area for her. Granted this is a 15 plus-year-old polyester carpet with a lot of wear and the furniture indentations are pretty much permanent. It cleaned up good enough that she decided to keep the carpet for showing the home.

Recently, Absolutely Kleen was tasked with cleaning the pews at a local Church. The reason for this job was not only general soiling but candle wax and glitter from their Christmas candle light service. This job was spread out over several cleanings due to the fact of not only the number of pews but the time consuming wax removal.

On this job, it was a cold, wet, dreary day and we decided to use the Low Moisture Cleaning process for the carpets to keep the doors shut and the heat inside.
These carpets cleaned up really well as you can see in the picture below but they also were dry by the time we left the job.
No Open Doors, No Reappearing Spots (because of the quick dry times), No Loud Equipment or Tripping Hazards With Vacuum Hoses.
As with any carpet cleaning the most crucial and often overlooked part of the process begins with vacuuming (dry soil removal). Close to 1 hour was spent on this job vacuuming alone. First we used a commercial vacuum on all of the carpeting (even under the furniture) followed with a backpack vacuum to detail all edges, door jambs and under desks. A high quality, Eco-Friendly encapsulation cleaner is then applied and allowed to dwell. This step is followed with either a brush or fiber pad used to agitate the cleaner into the fibers of the carpeting. After agitation is completed then the extraction process begins with either a micro-fiber or cotton pad to absorb the suspended soils. The carpets are left clean and nearly dry (depending on the amount of cleaner used due to the soil load) at this point with one added bonus to the customer, the cleaning solution is polymer based which also imparts a anti-resoiling property to the fiber.
